Lastly, but not least by any means, Sandra is now FULLY LICENSED! She got approval this morning from the State and we are excited for this transition of her moving from being an intern supervised by Dr. Futrell to being a fully licensed clinician and part of this team! Way to go Sandra! We are proud of you!

She did it!!!

Sandra Alvarez has completed her LPC-Associate hours and will soon be fully licensed as a clinician. She will no longer be under Dr. Futrell’s supervision!!! YAY!!! We are extremely proud of her and the hard work she has put forth within herself, this company, and for her clients!!! She will continue on here at Madrone and we are honored to have her! WE LOVE YOU SANDRA!!! Congratulations times 10,000!!!!!!!!

We are growing!

Once again I am able to come to you with more exciting news! We have two more Masters Student Interns starting this summer (one in July and the other in August)! Stay tuned for updates on them and their bio(s).

Additionally, congratulations to Ben and Maria for coming up to the end of their practicum and moving into their internship. They are well on their way towards graduation! It has been absolutely amazing watching both of them grow and develop into strong clinicians. I look forward to seeing more of their growth as the internship progresses.

This summer we will be rolling out a group session. We’ll have more details coming soon with: age group, topic of discussion, dates, and times. Keep an eye out for all of these exciting changes taking place!

Exciting News

I love being able to come on here and add exciting news! Aside from expanding office spaces to have more rooms (happened Feb 1st), we now have two new clinicians working at the office. We welcome Ben Bates (Masters Student Intern) and Maria Fisher (Masters Student Intern) both supervised by Dr. Futrell.

They have been and will shadow different clinicians to get an understanding of what we do and how to help you all along your journey of healing. They will be added to the calendar soon and are offering more sessions/times of availability. They look forward to serving you and are grateful to be along this journey with you. Additionally, you along this journey with them. It allows them to be a better clinician in the future as they navigate this endeavor of practicum and internship to graduation!

Thank you for trusting us, Dr. Futrell

New Year Excitement!

It has been a while since I have been on here. None the less, I would love to share some exciting news with you all. This morning Emily has confirmed she is officially state licensed! How exciting for her to start her new journey no longer as a student, but a trained professional. Emily’s calendar will be opening up soon so stay tuned!

Another bit of excitement begins today with Operation Decoration for the additional office space we have leased. The goal is to have all things finished for the room to be available Feb 1st! Although 2025 has sucker punched and tossed us around like we were placed in the dryer, we are holding strong and pushing through. Growth is happening not only with new office space, Emily being licensed, but we have two new student interns coming in the spring! We are so excited for this growth and blessing we have with all of your trust and each person’s hard work in training themselves and being wonderful clinicians that service you all with an open heart. Have a fabulous Saturday!

Becoming a licensed clinician is not easy!

We want to give a shout out to Emily Clark, our Master’s Student Intern from Capella University, who passed the NCE (National Counselor’s Exam) last week! This exam is NOT easy and she has put in so much effort to walk into becoming a licensed clinician! We are so proud of you Emily and all your hard work. Now to finish up your internship hours and GRADUATE!! YAY!!! The rest of the way is now smooth sailing to the finish line!

When the scorpion stings

Last night after all of my sessions, I went into my kitchen to take my vitamins only to be struck by a scorpion. I have heard how painful it is, but never imagined the intense amount of pain I would experience and how long the pain lasted or magnified throughout the night. I am thankful it happened to me and not our granddaughter who is crawling around the house to a wild woman. LOL

It really had me thinking “death would feel better right now”. How many times has that run across your mind? If I were not to wake up, or get me out of this pain I am feeling right now? Life can have the most painful moments. Yet, it can also bring the most beautiful moments or moments where we would rather it happen to us than our children or grandchildren. Even with the pain all night from the sting, I realized that the pain slowly started to decrease. Sure, I didn’t want to feel the excruciating pain (I rank it one of my top 5). However, I have survived it and all of the curveballs life has thrown my way. I know others have survived worse, but I don’t compare my pain to others because for me it was one of the worst. Our experiences are just that, our own experiences. Remember to sit in the pain can be a powerful experience for you and we are here to help sit with you.

Last night, I was unable to walk on my foot because of the pain and my husband had to give me a piggyback ride to get into bed. I watched the girl’s gymnastics win the gold to try and redirect my thoughts. The redirection helped some, but my husband’s support of helping me reminded me of how therapy is for others. We are here to support you through your journey in life with all of the curveballs. Everyone needs a support system and sometimes even more support at one point in their life. There is no shame in that. There is only love and understanding. ❤

Life’s Frustrations

Have you ever had a day where it seems like nothing is going your way. You are feeling ambitious and motivated to achieve things, but every time you are touching things something else goes wrong that you are having to try and figure out? NO? Just me. Welcome to me trying to remember how to edit this website to add the new clinicians and update things that have expired. All in a way where I just want to go back to bed and try again another day. Maybe that is what we need. To stop and have a redo another day. American society is a constant go go go world. When visiting other countries, I see they take time to relax. They are less stressed about the mundane daily life of work. They seem to know how to balance themselves and invest in something that gives back to their mental health. What do you focus on daily? Do you allow yourself the time to walk away or just sit in the frustration? I am choosing to walk away and try to figure this site out another day. Deep breaths… Dr. Futrell
