Dr. Audrey Futrell LPC-S

The Compassionate Strategist

Helping you understand your story, strengthen your mind, and create lasting change.

Sometimes life changes us in ways we never expected.

Trauma, loss, anxiety, difficult relationships, overwhelming responsibilities, or years of putting everyone else’s needs before your own can slowly convince us that merely surviving is the best we can hope for. I believe healing is about far more than reducing symptoms. It is about helping you reconnect with the person you were always meant to become.

My goal is to create a space where you feel genuinely seen, understood, and accepted. Healing begins when we no longer have to hide parts of ourselves in order to feel safe. Together, we’ll work to understand your experiences, uncover the strengths you already possess, and develop practical strategies that help you create lasting and meaningful change.

Over the past two decades, I’ve had the privilege of working with adolescents (13+), adults, and older adults across acute inpatient hospitals, intensive outpatient programs (IOP), outpatient settings, and private practice. My professional journey has included serving as a Youth Program Manager, Inpatient Clinical Director, Clinical Supervisor, and practice owner. These experiences have given me the opportunity to support individuals through some of life’s most difficult moments while mentoring the next generation of mental health professionals.

My clinical experience includes working with trauma and PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and other serious mental health conditions, substance use disorders, self-harm behaviors, disabilities, and life transitions. Regardless of the diagnosis, I believe every person deserves to be understood beyond their symptoms and recognized for the strengths they already possess.

One area of my work that is especially meaningful to me is trauma recovery. Over the past year, I have devoted extensive study to Internal Family Systems (IFS) because it aligns with my belief that healing begins with understanding rather than judgment. IFS helps clients develop compassion for the different parts of themselves, understand how those parts were created to protect them, and move toward healing with curiosity instead of shame.

While every client is unique, my approach is grounded in evidence-based care and individualized treatment. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, psychodynamic principles, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help clients better understand their thoughts, emotions, relationships, and life experiences. Together, we identify patterns that are no longer serving you, process painful experiences, strengthen emotional resilience, and develop practical strategies that create lasting change beyond the therapy office.

I believe healing is not about becoming someone different.

It is about rediscovering the person who has always been there beneath the pain, fear, and self-doubt.

“Healing doesn’t happen because someone tells you what’s wrong. Healing begins when someone helps you discover what has always been strong within you.”

It is a privilege to be invited into someone’s story, and I never take that responsibility lightly. Whether we work together for a season or for a longer journey, my hope is that you leave each session feeling understood, supported, and empowered to continue building the life you deserve.

I would be honored to walk alongside you as you begin writing your next chapter.
